Discovery call - Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions - Discovery Call
1. Purpose of the Discovery Call
This call is a gentle first step to explore what has brought you here and to see whether working together feels like a good fit. It is not a full counselling session, and we won’t go into deep therapeutic work at this stage.
2. Length and Format
The discovery call usually lasts around 15–20 minutes and takes place online, or exceptionally by telephone. We will keep to this time so that the space feels contained and respectful of both of us.
3. Your Choice and Autonomy
There is no pressure to continue after this call. You are free to decide what feels right for you, and I will also be honest if I feel another type of support may suit you better.
4. Confidentiality
What you share will be treated with care and respect. The only time confidentiality may need to be broken is if there is a serious concern about your safety or someone else’s, or where there is a legal or safeguarding requirement. If you require further information on this, please ask.
5. Not a Crisis Service
This space is not designed for urgent or crisis support. If you are in immediate distress or feel at risk, it’s important to contact your GP, emergency services, or a crisis helpline so you can receive the support you need right away.
6. Emotional Safety and Boundaries
Because this is a short introductory call, we will avoid going into very detailed or distressing experiences. This helps keep the space emotionally safe and contained for you.
7. Cancellations or Missed Calls
If you’re unable to attend, please please let me know if you can. Missed calls may not always be rescheduled, but I understand that life can be unpredictable and will approach this with flexibility where possible.
8. Technology and Environment
If we meet online, please try to be in a private and comfortable space where you feel safe to talk. A stable internet or phone connection will help the call run smoothly.
9. Nature of Support
Any guidance offered during the call is general and exploratory. Ongoing counselling provides a deeper, more supportive space if you choose to continue.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
Your information will be stored and handled in line with data protection laws (including GDPR). It will only be used to communicate with you and will not be shared without your consent unless required for safety or legal reasons.
11. Next Steps
If we decide to work together, I will share clear information about sessions, fees, and our working agreement so you can make an informed choice.
By booking a discovery call, you are agreeing to these terms. If anything feels unclear or you have questions, you are very welcome to ask.
